Khotan (Taupe)
About This Rug
Khotan rugs were originally handwoven in or about the ancient city of Khotan in the region of Xinjiang (Chinese Turkestan). This is a very simplified version of most Khotan designs. Even though it is a repetitive, quite simple design that may be reminiscent of some broadloom carpeting, the beauty of the rug lies in the quality and texture of the wool. The field of this version of our Taupe Khotan was made in a 60-knot Tibetan weave with undyed Tibetan wool which was handspun and hand carded, giving it such a lovely texture. (See What is a Tibetan rug?) This rug is made in all the standard sizes and may be ordered in any custom size as well.
