Rug Pads
Why we recommend rug pads
Pads under oriental rugs can prevent sliding, prolong the life of the rug by cushioning the impact between shoe sole and hard floor surfaces, as well as provide comfort under foot. Our pads are especially helpful for rugs that have heavy furniture placed on top of them. They add to the enjoyment of your rug because rugs lay out beautifully on these pads, eliminating rumpling, or "creeping" movement, and enhancing the overall look of your rug.
Types of pads
We offer three rug pad types, which are the highest-quality, longest-lasting, and most effective pads available. For rugs on a hard surface, we recommand Durahold, which is fiber on one side and rubber on the other. NoMuv (a stiff, fairly thick fiber pad) and Teebaud (thin and somewhat sticky) are great choices for rugs on carpet, the choice depending on the size of your rug and whether or not you need to minimize the thickness of the rug (e.g., where there is limited space such as under a door).
A note about pad sizing
All of our pads pre-cut. Please order the closest size to your rug, allowing enough width and length to cut the pad down to the exact size of your rug less a few inches to allow the rug to overlap the pad.
If you're ordering Teebaud, the recommended size is 1 inch all around less than the size of your rug (or 2 inches total in width and length).
If you're ordering Durahold or No-Muv, we recommend 1-1/2 inches (or 3 inches total in width and length) on each side less than the size of your rug (or 4 inches total in width and length if you have a rug larger than 9 x 12 or a very thick rug).
Additional note regarding NoMuv: If you need a piece of NoMuv wider than 9 feet, since this pad cannot be shipped in 2 or more pieces like our other pad types, and since UPS does not accept packages longer than 9 feet, the NoMuv will have to be shipped via common carrier. In that case, A Rug For All Reasons does not pay for shipping as this is a very expensive method of shipping.
Don't hesitate to call or send us a note if you have questions about pad sizing.
