About This Rug

This dramatic and very cheerful rug has a romantic, folkloric feel. These wonderful Suzani (Souzani) designs trace their origins back several centuries to the great folk art of Uzbekistan. Traditionally woven in embroidery construction, they are now woven in a durable and hardwearing Soumak weave that will hold up for generations (see "Soumak "). Their playful, happy designs are appealing and suitable in a myriad of settings, from traditional to contemporary. Handwoven in India of 100% New Zealand wool.
