Nomad (Heriz) (AR83636), 8-2 x 9-10
About This Rug
Notice the pleasing soft red field and lovely blue border on this stunning rug. Based on the Persian Heriz designs, it was made in Pakistan with all the traditional rug-weaving techniques: handspun wool, natural dyes, and hand knotting. The producer of this rug was part of a movement that was started in the 1970s by a handful of people who wanted to bring back the rugs of old, replacing a product that had deteriorated greatly since the turn of the 20th century: rugs that were made with chemical dyes and “pat” designs, taking on an almost paint-by-numbers quality, predictable and quite lacking in the character of the old rugs. This handful of people succeeded wildly, making rugs that have been in high demand over the last few decades. This rug may be ordered in any size, standard or custom, which would probably entail a wait of a few months.
